Fresh Start

Spring is a wonderful time for the cook – the variety of fruits and vegetables is inspiring after the scarcity of winter’s produce. Internationally celebrated chef and NZ House & Garden food writer Peter Gordon says “I find that I spice things less now as the fresh, almost sweet flavours of the ingredients speak loudly for themselves, and it’s great having simple dishes to subtly jolt our taste buds back into action.”

Peter shares his latest spring recipes including Roast Lamb Rack with Fennel Salad & Kumara Mash and Warm Asparagus, Goat’s Cheese, Courgette and Radish Salad with us here.

And the perfect accompaniment to those simple spring dishes is to follow with a cheesboard. Juliet Harbutt – internationally recognised Cheese Master and regular contributor to NZ House & Garden magazine featured on this week’s NZ House & Garden television programme She says “the breed of animal, soil, climate and seasons all influence the final flavour of cheese.”
